Friends of Wikimedia Belgium Fund:
Together we make the difference!
Since March 2019, we have been on the list of Good Causes of the King Baudouin Foundation (KBS) at Wikimedia Belgium. A great step forward! In the beginning, this mainly meant that we could show who we are, what we do and how we want to make an impact as an association. We asked volunteers to help build our projects and showed what we can do for society.
But we wanted more. That's why we, together with the KBS, Friends of Wikimedia Belgium Fund started. With this fund we can now issue tax certificates for donations. What does that mean? Very simple: if you make a donation, you will receive part of your donation back through tax benefits. And that means that with your support we can realize even more great projects.
How does it work?
Donations can come from anyone: individuals, companies, inheritances, notarial donations or government subsidies. To keep everything going, we want to raise at least €10.000 annually. That may seem like a lot, but if 250 people donate €40, we're already there!
The fund was officially established on 1 December 2019, after approval by the KBS. Belgian residents will in principle receive a tax reduction of 40% on the amount actually paid for donations of €45 per year or more (art. 145/33 WIB).
What does this mean for you?
With your support we can:
- Motivating the Wikimedia community and the general public to contribute.
- Making it more attractive to make larger donations (thanks to that tax benefit!).
- Bringing people closer to Wikimedia Belgium.
- Become less dependent on international subsidies.
- Setting up even more great projects in Belgium.
